2011 4-H quilts from Megan and her brother Austin, both WINNERS!  Megan is now 10, Austin is 12. GREAT JOBS!!  Good luck at the Kansas State Fair in September, 2011.

Cheryl

Attached are pics of Austin and Megan's quilts.  Austin was grand overall in Stevens Co.  Megan was reserve overall. We sent both quilts to the Liberal Five-state fair and Megan was Grand overall and Austin was reserve overall.  Both quilts are heading to the Kansas state fair in September.

Thanks for all you did to help both kids succeed. Vicky =)

Megan's quilt is from "Bargello Quilts" by Marge Edie.  This is Megan's version of the cover quilt.  Megan picked out all the fabrics for her digital synchronized music design quilt from Cheryl's Quilt Corner along with the book.  Cheryl machine quilted both quilts after Austin and Megan had the tops pieced.  After the quilting was finished both Austin and Megan did the binding on their quilts.  Mom, Vicky, helps to keep these two involved in 4-H as well as a large number of other kids in their area.  High 5 to the entire family!  Cheryl

2010 Award Winner!

Megan of southwest Kansas - Stevens County, Reserve Grand Champion, Youth Division

with her version of the pattern Jungle Fever. Megan picked out her pattern and fabrics from a huge stack, pieced and tied it herself to create her award winning 2010 quilt.

Great job Megan!

Joanne -- Your quilt is absolutely gorgeous! You did a fantastic job! Congratulations on your "Viewer's Choice" ribbon.

Hi Cheryl,
A few years ago, I think around 2003/4 I purchased the BOM for Affaires of the Heart. I called you from Newfoundland, Canada. I quickly made a few blocks then put it aside and worked on it sporadically. About 3 years ago I developed a serious heart problem, ended up in hospital and confined to bed rest for several weeks. At that time I started to work on this quilt and completed all the blocks. This past June 24th weekend our 5 yr. old Pigeon Inlet Quilters Guild held its first quilt show. So, looking forward to it I put the quilt together. I decided to hand quilt it as I felt all that appliqué really deserved hand quilting.
The show was a huge success. We had over 150 quilts from 60 members)  and lots of other quilted articles. As this was our first show and our guild having several “new” quilters, it was decided that the only award to be presented would be Viewers Choice. I am very proud and so excited to tell you that my Affairs of the Heart received the award!!  I have called my quilt", A Silver Lining”, as it provided me with hours of enjoyment during the time I was laid up with my illness.  Every cloud has a silver lining.
Thank you so much for providing that BOM.

Sorry, we've sold out of the Vintage Valentine BOM.

Rosemary of Illinois writes:  "This is my version of your "Vintage Valentine" BOM!  It is really beautiful. I gave this to my daughter and son-in-law for their 25th anniversary. She loves it!"  12-22-09.

Rosemary, you did a wonderful job -- your quilt is fantastic and I know it will be cherished forever!

Another first time Stained Glass quilter, Nice Bishop, shows her family farm heritage with her  creation of this darling farming Overall Sam for her son. By adding corn fabric for the matting area of her quilt Nice proudly shows Sam must also be a farmer.  Springfield, Colorado. Sept. 2001

All beginners from the Stained Glass class in Springfield, Colorado. Sept. 2001

One-half of the Panhandle Peacemakers Quilt Guild beginning Stained Glass class held in Pampas, Texas, June, 2000.

This is my grandson Jared, age 11, and his friend Cassidy spending a little time in his birthday present, a teepee made by his Me maw (Cheryl).  Quilters can make anything from cloth, thread and a little time. The inside is big enough to comfortably allow for 3 sleeping bags and loads of fun. With 17 tent stakes to hold it down, we hope it will withstand some of the winds we have here in the "No Man's Land" part of Oklahoma. This is definitely a one-of-a-kind original.  --- now to make one for my little 7-yr-old grandson Tate.

Veteran's Day, 2011

America, home of the free, because of the brave.

On this Veteran's Day 2010, my sister Kathy and I have proudly posted a picture of Daddy on our websites. This was taken in Korea as he served in the United States Army, 1946. They were so young, but oh so brave, as our boys proudly enlisted to go fight for freedom. Thank you to all those who serve or have served in our armed forces.
